The summer holidays are fast approaching! That means bright mornings, sunny days and warm evenings to fill with exciting activities for your children, your whole family, and if you’re lucky, even for yourselves!

Summer is when lots of special memories are made, and we have loads of activities lined up to help you celebrate the season.

Summer is the perfect time to spend some time together in nature with your kids! Take a look at our sensational summer line-up perfect for families.

Harvest at the Clumps

Celebrate the season and soak up the last of the summer with Harvest at the Clumps – four days of family fun, outdoor adventure and hands-on discovery at Earth Trust!

Explore the farm trail, discover how food is grown and made, and enjoy activities inspired by the harvest season, all set beneath the stunning Wittenham Clumps. Clamber among our hay bales, test your skills at wheat threshing and wool spinning on our summer farm trail, and fill your lunchboxes with mouth-watering food from our vendors, or with fresh produce grown in our edible garden!

Tickets: £12/child | Adults and under 2s free
Food and drinks: Hot and cold drinks will be available, as well as a selection of local food trucks. You’re also welcome to bring a picnic!

Little Acorns: Summer of wonder

Little Acorns is back for summer! Explore the natural world on your doorstep, dive deep into the busy world of bees, take your teddy bear out for a picnic, or be transported to a world of magic and splendour.

We have a trio of themed activity days for your littlest nature enthusiasts, all featuring the classic crafts, mud kitchen, water play and garden games we know they love so much, along with a little sprinkle of something special. Afterwards, why not enjoy a picnic in our beautiful gardens, or grab a cooling ice cream from our pop-up café? They day is yours to enjoy!

Dates: Monday 27th – Tuesday 28th July | Monday 3rd – Tuesday 4th August | Monday 10th – Tuesday 11th August
Time: 10am – 11.30am
Location: Earth Lab, Earth Trust Centre, Little Wittenham
Cost: £10 per child (adults and under 2s free with the purchase of a child ticket)
Suitability: Ages 2 – 6 years (children must be accompanied by an adult)

Family Nature Days

Looking for a day to explore the wilderness together with your kids? Join us for our Family Nature Days to explore and discover all the hidden wildlife at Earth Trust!

You and your children will become nature detectives and learn all about the minibeasts that live across our habitats, and how they keep our planet healthy with their incredible superpowers! Each of our sessions will explore a different habitat across EarthTrust’s landscape, from forests and meadows to rookeries and streams. This is an active day out in areas which aren’t all suitable for pushchairs, so children need to be up to the challenge.

The essentials

Dates: Wednesday 22nd July | Wednesday 29th July | Wednesday 5th August | Thursday 20th August
Time: 10am – 12pm. Please arrive between 9:45am and 10am for a prompt start.
Ages: Suitable for ages 5-11 years.  All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Not suitable for under 2s

Drop-off holiday activities for children

It’s a treat to be able to spend long summer days with your kids, but we know that sometimes that’s not possible. Our drop-off day camp means that even if you’re unable to spend the day with them, your kids can still enjoy exploring the countryside.

Outdoor Explorer Camp: Summer of discovery

Gift your child a world of adventure this summer with Outdoor Explorer Camp: Summer of discovery, where they can connect with nature, build new skills, make friends and enjoy and unforgettable outdoor experience!

It’s never been more critical to give children access to green spaces, not only for their wellbeing but also to build confidence and have fun while learning about the natural world!

Our campers explore our historic woodlands and meadows where wildlife thrives at every turn and hidden treasures from ages gone by dot the landscape. Our expert instructors introduce them to bushcraft skills, ancient crafts, and cooking tasty treats over a campfire.

Dates: Tuesday 4th – Friday 7th August | Tuesday 11th – Friday 14th August | Tuesday 18th – Friday 21st August
Age: Recommended for children aged 7-12
Times: 8.45am-3.30pm (Drop-off – between 8:45am and 9:00am | Pickup – 3:30pm)

Day Tickets: £55 per child
Food and drinks: Please ensure that your child brings a snack, packed lunch and refillable water bottle.

Summer holiday activities for everyone

Whether you’re planning a laid-back family outing, a relaxed summer date night, or a catch up with friends, these summer events are perfect for unwinding on long summer evenings – with whoever you choose!

Foodie Fridays

Foodie Fridays is a relaxed weekly celebration of incredible street food, local craft ale, and unforgettable sunset views!

Each Friday in July, join us to enjoy delicious food from a different street food vendor, serving up cuisine from Mexico to Ethiopia and beyond! Take your feast to the top of Wittenham Clumps and enjoy a picnic with panoramic sunset views – the perfect way to end a beautiful summer’s day.

Friday 3rd July:  Tutu’s Ethiopian Table will be serving vibrant, authentic Ethiopian dishes, packed with rich spices, bold flavours, and designed to share and savour outdoors.

Handlebards

Shakespeare is coming to the Clumps on two wheels this summer with HandleBards Open Air Theatre! This amazing troupe of actors cycles between venues with their props, sets and costumes on their backs to deliver their entertaining, family-friendly and environmentally-friendly performances across the UK.

This summer they’re bring a new twist on a classic play to our historic hills. Enjoy a comic retelling of Macbeth as you’ve never seen it before! Follow the tale of Macbeth through a topsy-turvy family-friendly retelling that swaps tragedy for mishaps and mayhem.
