Remember a Charity Week: a supporter story

Remember a Charity Week takes place from 5th-11th September every year and aims to encourage more people to leave a gift in their will to good causes.

Earth Trust is passionate about ensuring our green spaces are looked after and nurtured for generations to come. We have come a long way, thanks to the generosity of changemakers like you, but there is still so much more to do.

Remembering Earth Trust in your will is a simple yet powerful way to keep supporting nature long into the future.

Your gifts make a big, and lasting, difference.

We are grateful that the values Earth Trust stands for resonate with people beyond the local area. Here are two recent stories:

Christopher Cornell

“Christopher was born in Saffron Walden in 1943. In his late 20s he moved to Cambridge where he died earlier this year. He was a knowledgeable gardener, and deeply concerned for the environment. In his Will he asked that some of his money should benefit charities and Trusts which are involved with nature, gardens and environment and that is why I decided to give a donation to Earth Trust.” Cornell family executor.

The Lucas Family

A legacy gift from the Lucas family enabled us to create an inspirational rainwater feature at Earth Trust Centre, at the foot of the Wittenham Clumps. The Clumps have been a much loved green space for them, invoking fond memories from growing up, and the family decided a donation to us was a fitting tribute to their loved ones.

The rainwater garden has established an entirely new habitat to support a diverse range of wildlife and also plays an important role of providing wellbeing and learning benefits to those who visit Earth Trust Centre. Inspiring visitors, from far and wide, and demonstrating the creative ways we can harvest rainwater and support biodiversity in our own spaces, the benefits of this generous gift will be felt for many years to come. (Read more about the rainwater garden here).

“We feel it is important to support Earth Trust in caring for this area. It has a special place in our hearts. Thank you.” The Lucas Family

We are fortunate to receive legacies of different amounts from ordinary people, just like you.

Leaving a gift allows us to continue our vital work to protect the wellbeing of people and planet.

Receiving unrestricted gifts means that the charity can decide on where the donation can be best invested for impact. Advising our fundraising team of your wishes enables us to work with you to find a suitable, meaningful legacy gift which you can be excited about and which meets our needs too.

If you’re thinking of a legacy gift and would like to ask us questions, or simply want to find out more, please do get in touch.
