All of our green gifts can be purchased as a one-off sponsorship or as an annual sponsorship, recurring each year and supporting your chosen cause into the future.

Sponsor a Bat

Many bat species present in the UK are in decline due to widespread and severe habitat loss. The Earth Trust owns and manages important habitats for bats, with five bat species, including Noctule and Natterer’s bats, using Little Wittenham Wood and its surrounds for roosting. Your sponsorship will help us to provide safe roosting areas and monitor our populations, as well as provide opportunities for people to come and learn more about bats and how to protect them.

£15 – sponsor online.

The sponsorship pack will be emailed to directly upon purchase, and includes a certificate which can be personalised and a factsheet.

Sponsor a Marsh Tit

A mature woodland specialist, the marsh tit requires a healthy shrub layer to thrive. It is likely that changes in these woodland shrub layers and their management have led to the rapid and serious national decline of marsh tits over the years. Your sponsorship will allow us to maintain sensitive habitats in Little Wittenham Wood, providing favourable conditions for the marsh tit, and other species, and helping their populations to thrive.

Sponsor a Great Crested Newt

The great crested newt is declining throughout Europe, largely due to loss of habitat. Because of this, and the fact that Britain is considered a stronghold, the newt is strictly protected. The ponds in Little Wittenham Wood hold one of Britain’s largest known populations of the great crested newt. Up to 3,000 animals breed in the ponds each year. Your sponsorship will help us look after and protect this crucially important woodland site into the future and to monitor newt populations.

Sponsor a Living Bouquet

Why send a bunch of flowers when you could send a whole wildflower meadow?

Wildflower meadows are one of the most threatened habitat types in Britain. In the last 75 years 97% have been lost across the UK. Your sponsorship will support our work to restore and recreate swathes of wildflower meadow across the Wittenham Clumps, Church Meadow, at the River of Life and on our community reserves.

Sponsor a Tree, Thicket or Hedgerow

At the Earth Trust, we’re working hard to look after our trees and woodlands, for us and for future generations. You can help us achieve this by sponsoring a tree this Christmas… From the thousands of trees in our research woodland to the miles and miles of hedgerows on the Earth Trust Farm, we’re managing and improving these important, and beautiful, habitats.

£15 to sponsor a tree
£30 to sponsor a thicket
£75 to sponsor a grove
£125 to sponsor a quarter mile of hedgerow

The sponsorship pack will be emailed to directly upon purchase, and includes a certificate which can be personalised and a factsheet.

Sponsor a Nest Box

Nesting boxes provide bat and bird species with a safe place up in the trees to nest and breed, away from the threat of forest predators below. Our most recent survey of Little Wittenham Wood recorded 104 bird species and five species of bat. Your sponsorship of one of these boxes on the Earth Trust nature reserve will help support the maintenance and upkeep of the box, and to ensure it’s kept in perfect condition for birds or bats to use.
