Together for Nature
Three months ago, many of you in our community supported our Together for Nature appeal, helping to create more ways to discover, experience and fall in love with nature in our spectacular landscapes. Thanks to this generosity, we managed to raise our highest total yet – an incredible £27,305!
Since then, our team has been hard at work making the most of these donations – and we wanted to share some of our favourite highlights with you.
Helping more children discover nature
We continue to receive amazing feedback which tells the story of how powerful nature is for wellbeing – particularly for the young people we work with. We are now able to offer more young people the chance to learn outdoors and build a lifelong connection with nature. Over the past three years, the number of children taking part in our education programme has tripled! This June we were so proud to be able to welcome 1,326 children, up from 442 in 2023.
Another highlight was a very special first visit of 35 deaf children from across Oxfordshire for a nature activity day. When we hear about how visits to our landscape and our outreach visits to schools help children grow in confidence, develop new skills and discover the joy of being outside, it makes us very grateful to be able to continue this work – directly supported by our Spring appeal donors!
Bringing people together through volunteering
The money raised through our “Together for Nature” appeal has also been helping more people take action for nature through volunteering. Our dedicated volunteers have doubled the number of butterfly surveys they’ve completed for 2026, and taken on four new wildlife monitoring roles. These new roles have allowed us to massively increase our monitoring across the site, so we can keep an eye on how wildlife is thriving – like this grass snake, our first confirmed record since 2015!
With your support, we are also able to offer more training opportunities to our volunteers, developing their specialist skills. Their efforts not only help us to protect habitats, but also offer them opportunities to develop new skills and deepen their connection with the natural world.
Creating places for everyone to enjoy
Thanks to the generosity of our community, we’re continuing to improve access to nature for local communities and visitors. Volunteers have been helping to install new fingerposts and waymarkers, making it easier for people to explore our beautiful landscapes.
These improvements will support the launch of exciting new walking routes later this year, helping even more people to discover and enjoy the countryside as much as we do.
Thanks to the support of those who donated, we can do the work that we are passionate about – caring for landscapes that create space for nature and people to thrive together.
