Warm welcome to new Earth Trust trustees
We are delighted to announce the appointment of three new trustees to the Earth Trust Board of Trustees: Sarah Bar-Lev, Clare Fairbrother and Terry Hurley.
These three new appointees join our existing board members, in leading the organisation through our next exciting period of change.
Earth Trust believes that everyone has a role to play in championing accessible natural green spaces where people and nature thrive together. Our 2022-2027 strategy: Connecting Communities for Change, signals our commitment to shaping our environmental impact for diverse communities. This requires new skills amongst the Board of Trustees as the organisation develops.
Jayne Manley, Earth Trust’s CEO explains: “We are committed to being an inclusive organisation where green spaces are welcoming and accessible to all. We are seeking to grow our warm, respectful, passionate and open community, where people actively participate and contribute to environmental change.
We recognise that we need to take proactive steps to foster greater diversity and are looking to build a board that can help us achieve this. We are so pleased to welcome these 3 new trustees whose range of experience compliments our existing board and look forward to strengthening our Board, staff and volunteer community in the future.”
Sarah works as a People and Change Management Consultant with PA Consulting one of the top consultancies in the world. She specialises in creating change functions and communications in the Defence and security sector. Sarah runs a networking group called Women in Change and organised the Ministry of Defences first Tedx event. She previously worked in the care and third sector.
Clare spent over a decade working at some of the UK’s pre-eminent heritage institutions, including Historic Royal Palaces, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew and the Science Museum, before starting her own consultancy business in 2016. Specialising in trust and foundation income generation she works with a range of charities around the UK to develop fundraising strategies, undertake prospect research, submit grant applications and build strong stewardship practices.
Following a career in senior leadership and board roles in both private industry and the public sector, Terry brings expertise in innovation, programme management and people development. Terry has been involved with the Earth Trust as a volunteer since 2019, initially providing project planning expertise in the construction of Earth lab during the first phase of the Gateway programme. He is a member of the general maintenance team, is an Earth Trust tour guide for varied events and activities including the public tours of Earth Lab, and has contributed to reviews of Earth Trust strategy and planning for the next phase of the Gateway programme.
Ian Davidson, Chair of the Board of Trustees, comments: “I am delighted to welcome Sarah, Clare and Terry to the Earth Trust board. In my years as Chair, I have seen the organisation grow and diversify its approach to championing accessible natural green spaces. The overwhelmingly positive response to our search for trustees reinforces my conviction that Earth Trust’s vision and mission is hugely relevant – perhaps now more than ever. These new trustees will help us to continue to strengthen the voice and impact that we have as an organisation.”
