Sun Printing Workshop for Families
Come along to our family-friendly creative art workshop to learn how to make your own colourful art using the sun.
Sun prints, or ‘cyanotypes’ as they are sometimes known, are one of the oldest forms of photography. Local artist, Emma Williams, will show you how to make these stunning blue and white prints using just the power of the sun.
We’ll use a specially pre-coated paper, lay some cool objects on top and expose it to the rays of the sun. You can use plants, feathers, lace, stencils, even your hands to make patterns. Then, just rinse your print in water and your picture will appear like magic. Emma will show you how to embellish your prints once they are dry.
Be warned, it’s mesmerising and totally addictive!
This is a great session for families with young children to work together to make lovely artworks or for older children to explore the process in greater depth. And, don’t worry, we can even make sun prints when it’s cloudy (we just expose them for longer).
