Covid-19 update from Earth Trust
A message from our CEO Jayne Manley:
At Earth Trust we’ve been keeping a close eye on government guidelines for Covid-19, and following the updates this week we’ve made a few changes to the way we’re working and the service we are able to offer you.
The Earth Trust Centre
As of Wednesday 18th March, we are operating with a skeleton staff based at the Centre, with other staff working from their homes. We plan to continue to support all our natural green spaces for as long as possible in this way. As you are aware, volunteers are vital to our running and impact but we’ve also made the decision to suspend all of our volunteering groups, continuing only with roles which can be done in isolation. This is a challenging time for all of us and we need to respond to daily guidance whilst making sure we’re operating as normally as possible and supporting staff and volunteers to stay safe.
Events and activities
Our upcoming Lambing Festival and our Archaeology Live Community Dig have been cancelled and event planning has been put on hold. As a charity, our events programme is an important source of income for us as well as an opportunity to engage people with the environment, and this unprecedented situation will inevitably have an impact on the work we can do. I’m incredibly grateful to those who have made a donation in lieu of a refund for their Lambing Festival and Community Dig tickets – thank you so much. If you would like to support us through this time, please consider making a donation.
Fresh air at our accessible, natural green spaces
The good news is that our green spaces are still open, and in a time of such uncertainty, I urge you to make the most of the great outdoors if you can. We know that spending time in nature can be so beneficial for our well-being – I certainly feel better for spending even just a few minutes outside whether it’s at one of our green spaces, in my garden or at my local park. Of course while being outside is recommended, please be mindful of social distancing and keep 2m apart from other people.
Keep in touch
The Earth Trust team is working hard and available so if you have any questions please do contact us in the usual way – I’ve included details below for you. We’ll be updating supporters as often as we can with Earth Trust news so please keep in touch, and we look forward to getting back to normal as soon as we can. You can also sign up to receive regular news from us here.
With best wishes,
Jayne Manley
