Little Acorns Summertime

Nature-based play for little adventurers

Our Little Acorns sessions run every school holiday and feature a variety of seasonal activities for children to explore, discover and connect with the natural world. In these child-led experiences, our trained tutors will support and guide children but not direct them, allowing each child to lead their own learning while developing their curiosity for nature.

Summer holiday fun

We have three special themed Little Acorn events for the summer holidays, all set in our beautiful Earth Lab gardens where we’ll be investigating the season, connecting with nature through summer time craft activities and taking on a spot of gardening.

Come along and enjoy the outdoor mud kitchen and water play areas and help harvest vegetables from the kitchen garden. And after, why not stay and enjoy a picnic at one of our benches and grab an ice cream and coffee from our Welcome Hub to make the most of the day.

Ages: 2-6 years (under 2s free)

Price: £10 per child (+booking fees)

Location:  Earth Lab, Earth Trust Centre, Little Wittenham

Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Bring a favourite teddy bear to join in the fun as we build a shelter, make a mud pie and serve up some summertime herbal drinks. At the end, we’ll all come together for a special story with an elderflower lollipop made from our elderflower trees.

Dates: Monday 29th July & Tuesday 30th July
Time: 10-11.30am

Busy Bees

Explore the wonderful world of bees and discover why these tiny creatures are some of the most important insects in the world.  Go on a pollination trail, learn the bee waggle dance and connect with nature with our busy bee crafts. We’ll finish the session around the fire pit for stories and honey cake.

Date: Monday 5th August
Time: 10-11.30am

Mindful Moments

This session is all about connecting with nature and relaxation. Explore the gardens on a mindful scavenger hunt and create a piece of art to take home, inspired by the flowers, herbs and insects in our garden. At the end of the session we’ll gather for a mini-yoga session.

Date: Tuesday 27th August
Time: 10-11.30am
