Home Educators: Sensational Stone Age

Join our dedicated session for local home educators.  Specially designed by our Education Tutors for families with children aged between 7-11 in the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire area.

Sensational Stone Age

Take a trip back in time with our immersive history session, as we bring the ancient world to life.  Our Sensational Stone Age day explores the magnificent Earth Trust landscape, were 1000s of years ago our ancient ancestors roamed the land in search of food and shelter.

The morning starts with making your own willow fish, and you can even try your hand at some Stone Age fishing. After taking a look at some of our stone age animal remains – can you find our 80,000 year old mammoth tooth? – We will then travel back in time over 5000 years ago into the Mesolithic era.  Do you have what it takes to be a successful hunter gatherer?  Join us and find out as we seek shelter in Little Wittenham Woods and find food.

The afternoon session is based in our beautiful gardens where you can explore the Stone Age way of life. Handle real Stone Age tools, mix and paint a stone age scene, and learn how to light fire – one of the most important skills for Stone Age people.  A perfect end to a day of exploration and learning.  Your child will leave Earth Trust inspired and eager to learn more about this sensational era.
