Things to do with family in Oxfordshire this May half term
May half term is the perfect time of year to get outdoors and explore days out in Oxfordshire. At the junction of spring and summer, May brings more reliable sunshine, warmer weather, and the blooming of new life across our countryside, from flowers and bees to birds and barnyard animals.
If you’re looking for things to do with your family in Oxfordshire this May half term, take a look below at some of our exciting outdoor activities for children and families!
Spring on the farm: A magical Springtime celebration for curious young explorers!
Wednesday 27th to Sunday 31st May
Spring on the farm is a magical day in nature for families with younger children. Explore blooming gardens and minibeasts, play on the mini tractors and hobby horses, get hands-on with nature in our mud kitchen and water play, create nature inspired crafts and much more!
Unique to Spring on the Farm is our Be a farmer VIP experience. Our barnyard is bursting with life, with frolicking lambs and curious calves, and our farmer needs help to care for them all! Come down for a tour around the barnyard, feed our sheep, and change their hay and water, just like a real farmer to help the new babies grow big and strong. You can challenge your friends to a game of welly wanging, pose for a photo in our giant tractor, and much more! Tours take place at specific times through each day, and you can choose the time that’s best for you when you arrive.
Specially designed for families with children aged 2 to 8 in mind, Spring on the Farm offers a fantastic day outdoors, with the chance to get involved with the new life that makes spring time so special. Outdoor Explorer Camp is our drop-off day camp for intrepid young adventurers aged 7-13, where they can connect with nature, learn survival skills, and make unforgettable memories in the great outdoors.
Set among the meadows, woodlands, hilltops and rivers of the iconic Wittenham Clumps, our explorers will embark on expeditions to uncover long-lost treasures buried across our ancient landscape, and watch for wildlife in their natural habitats. They’ll learn essential bushcraft skills like building dens and lighting fires, and cook tasty treats over open flames. Each day of Outdoor Explorer Camp promises a new adventure – you can book your child a place for just one day, or the full four-day experience!
