Tuckmill Meadows

A peaceful meadow shaped by water,  wildlife and time

Tucked between Shrivenham and Watchfield, Tuckmill Meadows is a quiet, richly varied landscape, designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest for it’s diverse wildflowers and wet habitats.

Streams wind through meadows, reedbeds and woodland edges – creating a place where wildlife thrives and small details reveal themselves as you go.

A meeting of habitats

Fen meadow, reedbeds, woodland and flowing water come together in one place.

Wildflowers through seasons

From spring cowslips to summer orchids, the landscape shifts steadily across the year.

Life along the water

Reeds and stream edges are alive with movement, from birds in cover to insects above the surface.

Elusive wildlife

Otters, badgers and many bird species are present here – often unseen, but part of the landscape.

Explore the meadows

Paths guide you through a gently changing landscape.

You’ll find:

  • Fen meadow, a hidden gem of the Oxfordshire countryside
  • Reedbeds filled with birdsong
  • Remnants of the old Tuckmill Brook meanders
  • Quiet places to pause and look closer
  • Our meadow managers, three Dexter cows, use the QR code at the car park to see where they’re hiding.

It’s a place best explored slowly.
