Corporate volunteering

Volunteers are an invaluable part of the Earth Trust community, carrying out much of our vital work to care for and champion accessible natural green spaces across Oxfordshire.

Volunteering is a great way to bring your team together, taking part in hands-on and rewarding projects that benefit both people and the environment. Learn first-hand from our knowledgeable staff about biodiversity, how to care for green spaces – and more – in a fun and relaxed setting.

With over 500 hectares around Little Wittenham, plus five community reserves around Wallingford, Abingdon and Didcot, there’s always lots to do!

Learn new skills, spend time outside and away from the office

We offer groups the opportunity to spend the day with a member of our Land Management team helping to care for local habitats rich in nature and heritage.

We’re out in every season, whatever the weather – from hedgelaying and coppicing in the autumn to scything and scrub clearing in the summer, from maintaining the gardens at our HQ to carrying out wildlife surveys around South Oxfordshire. Our work is led by the seasons, so we can’t guarantee that all tasks will be available every day, but there is always plenty to get stuck into.

Experience how we care for our green spaces and nurture the brilliant biodiversity within them.

We’d love to welcome your team

We provide a full risk assessment and insurance, and the provision of all necessary tools and safety equipment.

Thank you so much for the wonderful day. Everyone absolutely loved it. We learned so much, we had a lot of fun and it was wonderful to spend the day in the woodland and connect with nature. Carolina Nicoletti Senior Operations Executive, Wild

Volunteering for individual employees

Our regular outdoor volunteer work parties run on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, assisting our Land Management team with a wide variety of tasks. Alternatively, individual employees could support one of our regular main events or assist our centre maintenance volunteering team. We can cater for up to 3 of your employees to join any one session, at no cost.

How your volunteering could help

The time your team spends with us will help us to:

  • Improve the physical infrastructure of our green spaces to enable more people local access into the countryside, eg fence removal, track maintenance.
  • Maintain and protect historical landscapes and archaeological sites, eg scrub clearance, removing invasive weeds.
  • Create and nurture biodiverse and climate resilient habitats, eg hedgerow restoration, tree planting.
  • Demonstrate how farming for nature can produce multiple benefits including healthy soils, increased biodiversity and improved health outcomes, eg crop field preparations.
