Ranger

Based at Wittenham Clumps in Oxfordshire — the largest freely accessible green space in the county — Earth Trust cares for farmland, woodland, meadows, wetlands and a portfolio of community reserves, including nationally important designated sites. It’s an exciting opportunity to play a hands-on role in caring for some of Oxfordshire’s most valued landscapes.

As a Ranger, you’ll be at the heart of delivering practical conservation and land management across our sites — from habitat management in grasslands, wetlands and woodlands, to biodiversity monitoring and leading volunteer groups. You’ll help ensure our landscapes remain welcoming, accessible and inspiring for the many people who visit them each year.

The Role

The job is genuinely varied. One day you might be carrying out habitat restoration or topping a pasture; the next, leading a volunteer work party or responding to a visitor enquiry. You’ll work as part of a dedicated team, supporting biodiversity surveys, maintaining paths, boundaries and infrastructure, and helping deliver our vision for nature recovery, public access and nature-friendly farming.

You’ll also be one of the public faces of Earth Trust — engaging with visitors, volunteers, local communities and partner organisations, and helping people connect with the landscapes and wildlife we care for.
