Temporary footpath closure at Neptune Wood July 2019

We will be temporarily closing the wildflower meadow, which is accessed from Neptune Wood, to the public on Thursday 18th July 2019 for approximately 4 weeks.

The meadow provides a great habitat for local wildlife, including a variety of bees, butterflies and other insects, and is a much loved dog walking area. In order to maintain the biodiversity and wildflower populations in the meadow, it is essential that it is grazed by sheep.

Unfortunately there have been a number of dog attacks on sheep whilst they are grazing in the meadow in the past so, as a result, we have taken the  decision to close the meadow to the public throughout the upcoming grazing period, beginning on 18th July. This is a necessary measure to ensure the protection of our livestock.

Thank you for your support and apologies for any inconvenience.
