Temporary footpath closure at Neptune Wood July 2019 – Now open again

We will be temporarily closing the wildflower meadow, which is accessed from Neptune Wood, to the public on Thursday 18th July 2019 for approximately 4 weeks. [Footpath has now re-opened]

The meadow provides a great habitat for local wildlife, including a variety of bees, butterflies and other insects, and is a much loved dog walking area. In order to maintain the biodiversity and wildflower populations in the meadow, it is essential that it is grazed by sheep.

Unfortunately there have been a number of dog attacks on sheep whilst they are grazing in the meadow in the past so, as a result, we have taken the  decision to close the meadow to the public throughout the upcoming grazing period, beginning on 18th July. This is a necessary measure to ensure the protection of our livestock.

Thank you for your support and apologies for any inconvenience.
