Second dog attack in three months
For the second time in three months we’re sad to report that a dog has attacked sheep on the Earth Trust Farm, and we’re once again reminding people to keep all dogs on leads around livestock.
In this instance the dog owner did the right thing and immediately reported the attack so the injured sheep could be tended to. She was extremely apologetic and explained this was unexpected behaviour from her pet, highlighting why it’s so important that all dogs, whatever their temperament, should be kept on leads when walking around farmland.
Several sheep received minor facial injuries but they are all recovering well. However, at this time of year, when ewes are pregnant the stress of being chased or attacked can cause serious problems.
