Our skyline has changed!

The view from the Wittenham Clumps underwent a dramatic transformation on Sunday morning as Didcot Power Station’s iconic cooling towers were demolished. There was a wonderful atmosphere on Round Hill, where hundreds of people came to witness the historic moment.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of you for being so considerate of other visitors, our neighbours and the Earth Trust Farm.

Earth Trust staff had an early start, with a small team arriving in the early hours to prepare – we knew the Clumps would be a popular destination to view the demolition of this local landmark. Due to the numbers of visitors, we opened an overflow car park in one of our fields where we could accommodate the cars that arrived over the next few hours, in order to keep the narrow access road clear. We’re very grateful to those visitors who made a donation to help cover our costs and support our work caring for green spaces. A lot of investment and work went on behind the scenes to ensure the area was safe and accessible; we did not receive any external financial support for this, so every donation received really counts!

Don’t forget you can still make a donation or find out more about becoming an Earth Trust Friend.
