Final chimney to be demolished at Didcot A Power Station
On Sunday 9th February RWE will be demolishing the chimney of Didcot A Power Station. RWE are actively discouraging people from viewing the demolition and Earth Trust supports their decision.
During the two previous demolitions (of the cooling towers in 2016 and 2019), we received a large number of visitors wishing to view the spectacle from the Wittenham Clumps and we were able to open an overflow car park in one of our fields to help manage the vehicles. This Sunday we will not be able to open an overflow car park. Part of the field that we would normally use is currently part of our archaeological dig, and the remaining section is unsuitable for parking due to a wet winter.
The Wittenham Clumps car park is always open but parking here is very limited; as the access lanes are narrow, please do not park along the road or in the laybys as this will obstruct traffic.
