Director of Visitor Operations

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Earth Trust at a critical point in its development. This new role will form part of the Senior Leadership Team which will guide the Trust in delivery of our innovative strategy. This team will work together to transform the impact of the Trust and its primary role as champion of accessible natural green spaces for all. You will be responsible for leading visitor experience at Earth Trust’s green spaces and will want every visitor to have a fun and memorable day.  As well as overseeing the engagement and visitor experience at our semi-urban community green places you will lead the operations of the new gateway visitor centre, a multi-million pound redevelopment bringing many new facilities in to place for summer 2021 and transforming the business model that sustains the charity. This gateway to our land and work, and our new business model, has the potential to be a nationally relevant exemplar of sustainable land stewardship providing environmental learning and discovery to engage people with the environment.

Working at a senior and strategic level in an operations role you will bring experience of managing visitor-facing functions for a publicly accessible attraction; you will develop and lead the team to deliver all visitor centre operations including impactful visitor experience, café and activity trail, our environmental education programme for schools and adult learners, and an overlaid seasonal events programme

Duties will include:

  • Establishing a first-class visitor experience which both delivers new commercial activities and financial sustainability.
  • Management of commercial infrastructure, EPOS, health and safety, and security.
  • Developing inspirational and influential activities, visitor experiences and operations.
  • Managing the resources providing the visitor experience: staff, volunteers and budget.

You will feel excited about developing and demonstrating leading ways to connect people of all ages to the environment where their engagement, understanding and empathy catalyses care for our planet. You will be able to develop talent and inspire others, be proactive in developing initiatives to develop service provision in full recognition of economic and business challenges and opportunities and able to influence at a strategic level; gaining commitment from internal and external stakeholders.
