Little Acorns Explorers

Summertime explorations for young explorers

Is your child curious about nature, do they love to be in the great outdoors? Then we have the perfect summer holiday activities just for them, exploring our woodlands and meadows.

Our Little Acorns Explorer sessions run every school holiday and feature a variety of seasonal activities for children to explore, discover and connect with the natural world. In these child-led experiences, our trained tutors will support and guide children but not direct them, allowing each child to lead their own learning while developing their curiosity for nature.

After your session, stay and enjoy a picnic under a shady tree and grab an ice cream and coffee from our Welcome Hub to make the most of the day.

Ages: 3-7 years

Price: £10 per child (+booking fees)

Location:  Earth Trust Centre, Little Wittenham

Meadow Meander

Come and explore the nature-filled meadows around the Wittenham Clumps with us.

As we meander through the grasslands and flower meadows,  there will be nature-based challenges to complete to help your young explorers engage with their surroundings and become nature experts.  They’ll hunt for meadow minibeasts too, and with the help of a mini nature pack identify their finds. We’ll finish our meander foraging for natural materials for some wild art back at the Centre.

Date: Monday 12th August

Time: 10am-12 noon

Woodland Walk

Discover the trees and creatures in Earth Trust’s Arboretum on this summer walk in the woods.

On the way we’ll take on a summertime scavenger hunt and using a magnifying glass identify any minibeasts we find, all designed to help your young explorers engage with their natural surroundings and connect with wildlife. At the Arboretum, we’ll build a den, make a pie and take tea in a secret hideaway with Hugh and Barnaby, our woodland friends. We’ll be foraging for natural materials to take back to the Centre for some wild woodland art too.

Date: Monday 19th August

Time: 10am-12 noon
