Wittenham Clumps offers first hand physical history experience which brings the past to life! Our site has been important to civilizations since the Stone Age and throughout history, all the way through to the Viking era.
Archaeological investigations here have found evidence which tells the story of the people who lived in in the Roman, Bronze Age and Iron Age eras. Visit us to come back in time to the ages of woolly mammoths, Iron Age hill forts and Roman villas!
We have a range of artefacts to handle, myths to share and traditional skills to teach. Sessions can include Ice Age, Stone Age, Iron Age, Celtic, Roman, Anglo-Saxon and Viking history; please also see the specific workshops we have on the Stone Age, the Iron Age, Romans and Anglo-Saxons and Vikings.
