Environmental Education Tutor, maternity cover

This is a key role in our multidisciplinary Education team, supporting all areas of our work, from school visits to community engagement with young adults and families.

We have recently undertaken an exciting period of development and expansion at our award-winning Earth Lab and surrounding green spaces, creating an environment that is fully equipped for learning and a pleasure to teach in.

You will have the opportunity to make a real difference to our educational offer and the impact we have on children and young people’s understanding of the natural environment and their place within it.

Key responsibilities

You will lead and engage groups from early years to adults through our three education programmes: Earth School, Earth Skills and Earth Explorers.

This role has co-responsibility for the coordination of our Earth Skills programme, working with young people with special educational needs on an Open College Network accredited course.

We’re looking for someone who has experience in learning delivery and is passionate about the value of education outside the traditional classroom setting. Someone who is flexible and adaptive with a love of the natural world and understanding of the importance of guiding children, young people and adults to develop a strong positive relationship with it.

About us

Earth Trust is an environmental charity with 40 years’ experience in caring for and inspiring others with green spaces. We believe that connection to nature can catalyse action to protect the environment, as well as provide vital mental and physical wellbeing benefits for people.

Together with our supporters, Earth Trust is guardian of some extremely special and inspiring places full of nature and heritage. We care for 500 hectares of woodland, farmland, wildflower meadows and wetlands, which receive more than 200,000 visits a year.

We use these amazing places to engage and inspire people and to demonstrate nature-based solutions to climate, biodiversity and public health crises, that we hope others will take and use elsewhere. We work to champion access to green space for everyone, to deepen engagement with nature, and to share our learnings about managing land in a way that is gentle on the earth.

Benefits

Alongside a competitive salary, we offer generous annual leave, volunteering opportunities, flexible working wherever possible, forums and inclusive facilities to support our staff.

26 days holiday per year, increasing with length of service, plus an additional 3 days of leave over Christmas and bank holidays. Up to 7.72% employer pension contribution and enhanced maternity / paternity / adoption pay.

Inclusivity

Earth Trust strives to be a diverse and inclusive place where we can all be ourselves and we are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff. Individuals are encouraged to apply regardless of age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race or ethnicity, religion or belief.
