“Following my move to reduced working hours and then full retirement, I joined Earth Trust’s Thursday Group working on Thrupp Lake and other reserves managed by Earth Trust. This group is led by Lucy Duerdoth, who is excellent at what she does. She makes everyone feel so very welcome and valued for what they bring to the group – whether that is simply energy and person power or existing skills.
I’m also involved with the scything group on alternate Thursday’s in the nesting season, and I was encouraged to have a bash at hedgelaying.
Working for the Earth Trust is one of two volunteering roles I undertake each week, but it is principally the work done with the Earth Trust that has enabled me to lose a good bit of weight, build additional strength and increase my stamina. It’s a great yet safe health work-out.”
