Precious wetlands are vanishing across the UK, impacting water quality, flooding, climate and wildlife. Oxfordshire faces severe water stress by 2040. Yet wetlands offer solutions - filtering water, preventing floods, capturing carbon and providing habitats. At Earth Trust, we have pioneered wetland restoration along the River Thames to showcase their immense value. But with 75% of UK wetlands lost, there is an urgent need to spread their magic before it's too late.

We are leading the way in demonstrating the benefits of wetlands. In recent years we’ve restored 6 football pitches of wetlands along the River Thames, created a new pond network in Little Wittenham Wood, a local beauty spot & Site of Special Scientific Interest and maintained freshwater habitats at public green spaces across Oxfordshire. By showcasing wetlands locally we inspire wider change, generating vital evidence and inspiring our volunteers & visitors to value and protect wetlands.
