Fison Barn is a stunning and beautifully maintained nineteenth century barn: a unique venue. The original oak beams have been lovingly restored and local Western Red Cedar has been used on the exterior cladding.
Fison Barn offers a picturesque ‘blank canvas’ – you have the flexibility to organise the catering, decoration and entertainment exactly as you want it.
Fison Barn and its courtyard are licensed for wedding ceremonies.
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do
Our eco-friendly biomass boiler provides under floor heating during winter for all our buildings. We harvest rain water for our toilets and our solar panels generate greenhouse-free electricity to meet a substantial portion of our electricity requirements.
Surrounded by nature
The large barn doors open onto our tranquil courtyard where bats and swallows have made their homes in the barn eaves, red kites swoop overhead and there are floral displays of herbs and plants attracting butterflies and insects. The courtyard area provides an ideal extension for events in good weather or an area for a marquee (separately hired).
Only 11 miles from Oxford
Nestling at the foot of the Wittenham Clumps nature reserve, Fison Barn is set amidst 1,200 acres of stunning countryside yet is conveniently located just 11 miles from Oxford and 18 miles from Reading.
Fison Barn is approximately 17m x 6m and accommodates:
Exclusive use of Fison Barn, Poem Tree Barn and the courtyard
Tables and seating for up to 85 people
Cinematic drop screen and ceiling-mounted projector
Bose® surround sound speakers
Toilets and baby changing facilities
Under floor heating provided by our onsite biomass boiler during winter
Open-air courtyard, perfect for drinks in good weather
As well as licensed venues (Fison Barn and the courtyard) for legal wedding ceremonies, there are several areas on our site where non-legal ceremonies (eg. handfasting, humanist, blessings) can take place.
We would be delighted to show you around Fison Barn (post Covid-19 restrictions!) and answer any questions that you might have. While we normally arrange visits during week-day office hours, we can also offer some early evening and weekend appointments. Please note, Fison Barn is not staffed and all viewings are by appointment only.
Please note: no bookings are taken for the period 23rd December-2nd January (inclusive).
Thanks very much to all at the Earth Trust… it was wonderful. A lot of people commented on how great the location was, and I can think of no finer compliment about the day that a couple of people describing it as ‘the best wedding they’d ever been to’. The relaxed attitude the staff had towards setting up, and on the day, and openness to the way we wanted to run things was absolutely great. It hit the perfect note for the day we wanted.

…We fell in love with the barn the first time we visited it… on our wedding day it was magical, the flowers around and the surrounding grounds makes Fison a picturesque location for getting married. The time slot for prepping the venue was perfect and decorating the barn to our taste was really fun. We are so thankful for all the help from your side with all the equipment and especially to Noel who was very helpful.

We absolutely loved having our wedding reception at Fison Barn, it was the perfect venue for us. We had viewed a few places before Fison Barn and the reason we picked it is because it was a blank canvas, the venue size was perfect and that the money for the venue hire is going to the charity.

We had such a wonderful time celebrating our wedding at Fison Barn. We loved the ethos of the centre and the ability to really make the place our own. So many of our guests commented on how wonderful the barn was and how lovely it was that we could make it so personalised.
